Hi, I’m Abbie

I’m a warm, authentic therapist who believes real change happens when you feel safe, understood, and supported. I never ask clients to do work I haven’t done myself, and I bring that same honesty, compassion, and grounded presence into every session.

At the heart of my practice is a simple belief: every person has the capacity to feel better and build a life aligned with their needs, values, and goals. My role is to walk alongside you with trauma-informed, collaborative care rooted in respect, curiosity, and genuine connection.

I don’t see people as problems to fix. I focus on creating a trusting relationship where insight, healing, and growth naturally unfold. My approach is flexible and evidence-based, drawing from DBT, CBT, ERP for OCD, IFS-informed work, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method. I also offer Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) to help young children express and process emotions through play. Clients often tell me they feel deeply seen, supported, and empowered in our work together.

I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, Autism, trauma, grief, relationship conflict, co-parenting stress, substance use recovery, burnout, and major life transitions. I have a special passion for supporting parents, caregivers, and neurodivergent individuals seeking understanding, self-acceptance, and accommodations at school or work.

Before becoming a therapist, I earned my degree from Virginia Tech and spent more than a decade in nonprofit fundraising. While meaningful, I felt called to support people more directly. I went on to complete my Master of Social Work at George Mason University, concentrating in Children, Youth, and Families and participating in the CAP-BH fellowship—an intensive program focused on trauma-informed, community-integrated behavioral health care.

I am currently a Supervisee in Social Work accruing hours toward clinical licensure. I provide therapy to individuals and couples in person at Lindsey Hoskins & Associates in Sterling, VA, and virtually across Virginia.

If you’re seeking a therapist who is warm, direct, collaborative, and deeply committed to your growth, I would be honored to support you. Feel free to reach out—I’d love to connect.

I offer therapy in person in Sterling, VA and virtually anywhere in Virginia. If you’re ready to feel better and want a therapist who truly listens and supports your growth, I invite you to reach out and schedule a consultation. You don’t have to do this alone.
